EVL4

Postby drax0r » Sat May 25, 2019 6:47 am

Hey everyone, I just bought a EVL4 and was connecting it to my panel DSC 832. Im not very familiar to the DSC 832 as it came with the house I bought. I discovered the previous owner had hidden the connection for power in the wall so I had to unscrew one of the AC cords on the panelboard. Then I removed the battery connector aswell and my outdoor siren started to go off, as I later discovered it had its own battery but back to install. I was very uncomfortable to have the outdoor siren constantly alarming so I reconnect the power to everything and tried to an "on-the-fly" install of EVL4 instead. So i started to loosen the green and yellow keybus terminals and pushed the EVL4 connectors in and then went on to the black cord and then red cord. But the card doesnt light up, nothing. Is the EVL4 board dead? I remember after I had it connected I again removed power to the panel and then back but board is still dead. None of the 5 lights are lit or blinking or anything. Shouldnt anything lit up even though It was done with power on?

Im thinking even if I go through the hassle of disconnecting all power, disconnecting outdoor siren battery and then installing the EVL4 board, and then power back on, its still dead.

Any thoughts?

First of all NEVER due a "hot" install of any peripheral as you can easily destroy the panel or the peripheral if you are not careful.

Anyhow, remove the main service battery and the Envisalink. Grab some wire and hook the red connection on the EVL4 to the + terminal of the battery and the black connection to the - negative. If you get the OPER LED come on solidly then the module is working.

I knew I took a risk but I figured if I was careful nothing could go wrong.
I tried the battery + and - but OPER LED still dead. So I guess I have to wait some more for my DSC to become smart. :(

If you bought it from one of our registered distributors you can return if for a DOA replacement.

Just for other users watching this thread, Eyezon provides no warranty on modules purchased from non-registered distributors and there are no registered distributors allowed to sell on secondary market sites like eBay.

A list of registered and authorized distributors is available on this forum.
