Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

Yes the entire service is encrypted end-to-end. As MikeP points out, the local TPI was never intended to be used outside of the LAN because the Envisalink lacks TLS capability on the TPI. Envisacor's new cloud API, due out shortly, is fully SSL with OAUTH2 authorization so I assume the need for the...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

WPA2 is hackable, but not causally and the hacker needs to be local... personally I'm not a high value target so I don't loose much sleep over it - seems like a criminal with that skill would have bigger fish to fry. Folks that port forward 4025 that need to be very cautious - I received a few requ...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

And access from the outside isn't all that difficult, what with WiFi. And now even WPA2 is no longer regarded as secure. So... I wonder if maybe Eyez-On can't detect this and at least slow down the retry interval after too many failed attempts, so as to make such an attack impractical? If anything,...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

Jeeze, unplug your keypad for a day! I'm curious to see if it works too. A handy thing to know if it works, and potentially a selling feature for envisalink... lost install codes does come up once it a while, usually after a move or when leaving an alarm company. It is a little bit disturbing...

Any luck? If I've done my math right you should have tried all of them by now... Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

From some googling I got the impression that clicks = Lockout is enabled, but people on the internet can often be confused. Including, especially me! It was a very long time ago, so go with the internet majority. I don't recall which, I only remember DLS worked and I didn't need to reprogram the en...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

IIRC the "easy" reset didn't work (no relay clicks) - Hm.. I do have the relay clicks on power cycling, does that indicate that Installer Lockout is enabled, or the opposite? From some googling I got the impression that clicks = Lockout is enabled, but people on the internet can often be ...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

No, that won't work, or at least that would be the hard way. You need to do something like... 1) Send *8 via 071 2) Wait for 922 status prompt 3) Issue installers code 4) If it wasn't correct you will get a 670, sleep 1 If is was correct you will get a 680 5) Goto 2 This seems to work when i test i...

Re: EVL 4, DSC and lost installer code - hacking my own system

There is a way to recover the installer code using a serial port and the DSC software, asking on one of the DSC installer security forums might uncover it if you can find an old guy there to respond. You are talking about PC-LINK DLS and that has its own secret code as well. You could attempt a dow...
